I have recently partnered with the non-profit organization HouseN2Home to provide upholstery and furniture restoration training to their volunteers to help restore their furniture donations for families in need. The good news is, YOU can volunteer too! This is a great way to get FREE upholstery education while doing good for the greater Washtenaw County Community.
This class is NOT AT MAKER WORKS! It will be held at HouseN2Home Headquarters in Ypsilanti, MI Classes are Wednesdays from 1-4pm EST. Keep checking back here for when new dates are added! This program is new, so we are adding them as we can but we hope to make the opportunity available every Wednesday indefinitely.
HouseN2Home is a a 501c3 non-profit organization here in southeast Michigan who help to provide furnishings for people, in our area, who are moving out of homeless shelters and into rental housing. They began in 2017 as a small group of friends working together to furnish a home for one single mom and her children.
Inspired by that experience, and by the need in our community, they have grown to over one hundred volunteers. House N2 Home has completely furnished over 1000 homes for individuals and families transitioning from homelessness in Washtenaw County.
By volunteering to help restore these items for families, you are doing a great service to our community, and bringing hope to families in need.
